15 May 1871 — Madrid | |
Monday. 15th [May 1871]. Major Holland arrived from Eng with bags. I did a lot of copying for Henry to send to Eng: by Mr Sopwith. At 5 Clarita came & we went & picked up Emilia to go & drive to the Fair of Sn Isidro– We found a tremendous string of carriages but we had our pass & directly we attempted to avail ourselves of it we were turned back & the pass was not recognised. Henry took the Number of the Policeman & then we gave up the fair & went to the Fuente. Major Holland & his companion Mr Webster dined & also Mr Ff: & Pal: | |
