Monday. 22nd [May 1871]. Mme de la Rochefoucauld came to call & brought the new Russian secretary whose name I have not yet arrived at. I asked her to come in the eveng. She was engaged to Elizabeth so I went to see if I cd persuade them all to come here. We had to dine with us the Ct de Valencia, M. Esperanza, Genl. Milans del Bosch—Sr M.
