18 June 1871 — En route to Bayonne | |
Sunday. 18th [June 1871]. We went on to Bayonne & arrived there abt 1. At the Biarritz station we had seen Mercier & he made us promise to go over in the afternoon to Biarritz; therefore when we had settled ourselves in the Hotel St Etienne Henry & I drove to Biarritz. We met the Grahams en route & asked them to go to see us tomorrow. In abt 1 hour we got to Biarritz & found the Merciers all well. They gave us some tea & took us for a walk down by the sea where several people were still bathing & swimming. He drove back to Bayonne by dinner time & had a wet drive. | |
