28 August 1871 — Ischl | |
Monday. 28th August [1871]. We got up abt 7 & breakfasted with the Childers’. Connie came down & said she had been up till ½ past 4 with HRH. who had a bad attack of rheumatism & fever & that there was now no chance of them going to Vienna on Wed. We hired a carriage & set off to drive thro’ Styria to get to Cortina– We took a private carriage & drove to Aussee where we lunched. We then went on thro’ the most lovely country where we did not meet a soul till abt 8½ when we arrived at a small place called Gröbming. There was a very clean little inn & there we slept. | |
