18 September 1871 — Venice
Monday. 18th September [1871]. Being our last day we had a good deal to do & went out to Salviati’s & to leave some P.P.C cards. At 12 we went home & fetched Giacomo who took us to see 2 Palaces as he wanted to persuade us to buy a house at Venice. We went over the Palazzo Spinelli which seemed to me charming but unfortunately it has no sun during the winter. It is very pretty outside with nice balconies. We went back got some luncheon & then went off to Murano & had some new treats made of saltcellars &c & I then went to another establishment to see the glass heads made. We saw the Abbé Zanetti & took leave of him. We intended going on the Piazza after dinner but a thunderstorm came up just after dinner so I went to bed & Henry went out alone to get what he wanted to buy.
