28 January 1872 — Madrid
Sunday. 28th [January 1872]. I was not well eno’ to go to church. At 2 Mme Dragonetti fetched me in her carriage & we went to the Concert where Henry met us. We had the symphony on the death of Mozart’s mother. Mme de C. & B. Aylton sat with us. Directly afterwards I went to see Eliz: found her very ill tho’ not alarmingly so as there was a good cause for it. Mme de C & B.A. came there but I outstayed them & put Eliz: to bed– She is to have morphine as she has not slept for 3 weeks & has been sick day & night.
