24 February 1872 — Madrid | |
Saturday. 24th [February 1872]. I was rather better so I got up & laid on the sofa & was able to read & write. In the afternoon I had a visit from Eliz: then came in Mme Aylton & her 2 daughters & they stayed some time. Abt tea time Mme de Canitz came & while we were talking in came the Dss de la Torre & Conchita– They stayed some time. At 1st Mme de C wanted to run away not being any good friends with the Dss but there was no exit possible so she stayed & they talked & got over their coldness– Henry went to Merecki’s Concert & took the Aylton girls with him & I went early to bed again. | |
