28 February 1872 — Madrid | |
Wednesday. 28th [February 1872]. Poor M. Ochoa died today as also Topete’s daughter. I began to learn the Guitar with help of a book– Henry & I went out left some cards & took a walk in the Buen Retiro. Coming away we met Sr Selva Allegre & his daughter who told us the old Dss of Veraquas was dead but she had for a long time been a nun– M. Aylton came to tea also Mme Ettling with the Marquesa de la Mesa– Eliz & then later Mme de Canitz & Emilia & Mr Gayangos. Clarita & Mr Hunt dined but not Inzenga as he was so cut up abt Mr Ochoa– We practised over some duos & went early to bed– | |
