24 May 1872 — Granada
Friday. 24th [May 1872]. Susan didn’t get up to breakfast but Mrs B. came back from her drawing at 10 & we 2 had breakfast in the sitting room & then I went out with Mrs Burr to the Mesquita to sketch. After lunch I wrote letters & we had tea at 5 after wh Henry & I went down to the station & went by train to Yllora abt an hour’s journey where we were met by Mr Colibert the D. of Wellington’s agent. We had 4 mules in an open carriage, 2 mounted guards, Mr Colibert mounted & another agent & we went full gallop up hill to the small house of the Agent called la Torre. Mme Colibert (née Miss Copley Feilding) & her sister the Countess & her husband the Count met us—at the door & as soon as we had taken off our things we dined. It was a fine moon light night. Mme Colibert played the guitar & I sang & we went to bed at 11.
