20 June 1872 — Madrid
Thursday. 20th [June 1872]. Did a lot of copying for Henry & we did not go out till after dinner. It was tremendously hot & I was able to go out in a white muslin & mantilla without any further wrap. I left Susan & Henry to walk at the Recolletos & then went to call on the Dragonetti’s. Went back to pick up S. & H & then he & I went in to the Serrano’s for a few minutes Susan waiting in the carriage. The house was full of discontented grumbling Genls who had been turned out of their commands by Zorilla’s Ministry.
