1 July 1872 — Madrid | |
Monday. 1st July [1872]. Lesson of Esquivel; at ½ past 1 Henry & I went to the Palace to take leave of the K & Q. The Q was alone when we went there & the room was nearly dark to exclude the light & heat. She was very amiable & talked a great deal to Henry on the state of Spain—the insults of the Press. After a good while the King came & we soon after returned home, shed my fine clothes & set to work to lock up our fine china & put away things during our holiday– We dined at 6 & then I called on the Dragonettis & then we went to the Bouillés to take tea. | |
