15 August 1872 — Champfer | |
Thursday. 15th [August 1872]. We walked to the Springs & there I made acquaintance with Henry’s old friend Mme la Comtesse Pisani. She has been very handsome & tho’ now no longer young is very nice looking. We walked back to Champfer & I was rather knocked up. After dinner we drove to the Maloja pass wh is very fine & the view of the descent into Italy is very fine—one stands on a ledge of rock & looks down sheer. We stopped to get flowers for Maria. We only got home a few minutes before supper & found that Rd had arrived. | |
