14 August 1872 — Champfer | |
Wednesday. 14th August [1872]. We went down to the springs & there discovered a M & Mme de Martino. We found that he was brother to the De Martino at Madrid & talked with them some time– After dinner we got a donkey for me to ride & we went round by Silvaplana & by the village wh was destroyed by the torrent & up to the Cafe of Cresalter where there is a lovely view. The we took some coffee & I then walked down & at the bottom of the hill mounted the donkey. Maria & Henry walked all the way. We had some rain en route & a heavy fall after our return– | |
