28 October 1872 — Madrid
Monday. 28th [October 1872]. Wrote for Henry. After lunch we went to Sr Madrazo’s studio to see Fortuny’s pictures before sent to Paris to be sold by Goupil. Some very pretty watercolors—one of Sta Maria la Blanca we saw at Granada. We went from there to the Riaños as they returned this morning. She had brought me some ferns from the Alhambra—maidenhair & hart’s tongue– I also received a box of ferns from England—sent off a month ago. They were still moist & quite green—well packed in their pots with moss– I came in early to unpack & plant them.
