1 January 1873 — Madrid | |
Wednesday. 1st January 1873. Henry gave me a lovely little fan of horn open work beautifully gilt & painted—said to have belonged to Q. Marie Louise. Henry could not go out but is a little better. I drove out & saw Mme Canitz & found her better. I went to the Whytes & found them all & had a long talk with them abt their affairs & found them utterly hopeless– I then went to the Dragonettis where I met the Ettlings & we wished each other the compts of the season– The Gruens came to see me to bid me goodbye as they are returning tomorrow to Italy– | |
