20 January 1873 — Madrid | |
Monday. 20th [January 1873]. The gale in the night was terrific & we got very little sleep– The palings round the enclosure in front of our house were blown down bit by bit & made a noise like firing of guns– I did not go out all day & tho’ I dressed in the eveng in case anybody should come to tea the wind & rain kept everybody away– | |
