28 February 1873 — Madrid | |
Friday. 28th [February 1873]. Bernar came abt 11 to see Henry. Mr Seymour is ill with fever & & I so I had to copy despatches for him & worked hard. After luncheon M. Koudriaffsky called & Jooris also came & Barral brought Ct Maffei who has arrived from London to be Chargé d’Affaires. He brought me letters & some parcels from England. I had hard work to get Connie’s baby socks finished wh I sent by the messenger who left for England & I was so tired when all was done that I had to rest. Henry went out for a walk. Mme Mendes Leal called & sat with me some time talking over household difficulties. | |
