2 March 1873 — Madrid | |
Sunday. 2nd [March 1873]. Copied for Henry. After lunch we went to the concert of classical music at the Circo & took Clarita. We did not come out till nearly 5 as so many pieces were encored. We left Clarita to make a visit in the Barrio & walked to Mme Prim’s found her in & I had not seen her since the King left. She was very low & found fault with all parties. We then walked home & found Mr Hunt here looking for Clarita. The Bernars, Ruiz Gomez &c dined. I had not seen the latter since he left Madrid after resigning as Minister of Finance. He said he was ashamed of his countrymen & his country & was very low– | |
