14 March 1873 — Madrid | |
Friday. 14th [March 1873]. Unpicked lace off my gowns & made a muslin fichu. Mme de Canitz came after lunch & the 2 Aylton girls looked in but did not stay long & we 2 played duetts till 5. Ricardo Pickman called & could not speak English so that altho’ both English people we conversed in Spanish. Later the Dss of Fernan Nunez called—also Mme Ettling & Mme Mendes Leal the latter to ask us to tea this evening. We went but there were very few people there. | |
