3 April 1873 — Madrid | |
Thursday. 3rd [April 1873]. Beck did not come to give me my lesson as I expected. After lunch Henry went to old Carderera to look over his sketches & Mme de Canitz came & we played duetts a little but we were neither of us very well & so gossiped away till 4 when we drove to the Prado & there walked up to the top of the Recolletos & where we happened to meet Henry. Aurelie sent her carriage to pick up the Aylton girls & when they joined her Henry & I came home. The sun was hot but it was cold in the shade– In the eveng we went for an hour to the Sickles’– There were not many people & we did not remain there long. | |
