Tuesday. 8th [April 1873]. Grau rushed in to say that he had news of my smelling bottle wh had been stolen on the 1st January 1872 on wh day we had had a dinner. He said that he had been to the Mariana’s to buy something & had there seen a bottle wh by the description I had had given him must be mine. He promised to come tomorrow & see abt it as the Mariana had promised him to bring it me & I expected her anxiously all day but she did not come. Esq: gave me a drawing lesson & after Henry & I went out driving. We went to F. Madrazo’s studio to see some portraits he is painting & there met the Duke of Fernan Nunez & Rosario his daughter & Rances & Bernar– The Portraits Madrazo is now at are—Rosario F.N., Mlle Osmar, the Marquese de la Granja & several others– On leaving the studio we went to the Prado & getting out of the carriage walked up to the Fuente & then went home. The Aylton girls came to see us as they said they should be busy church going for the rest of the week. Henry went to Bouillés in the evening but I did not. | |
