24 May 1873 — Madrid | |
Saturday. 24th [May 1873]. I wrote despatches for Henry & was very busy & hot. Henry walked out at 4½ & at 5½ I went to pick him up at Mendes Leals & then we took a turn in the Fuente it being too hot to walk. We dined at 7½ & went to the Italian play in the evening & met Mme de Canitz & Louisa Aylton, Maffei, & Napier there– Saw “Duquesa Ana” a very stupid play by Ferrari but in wh Pezzana acted very well. There were a great many people we knew at the theatre. | |
