25 May 1873 — Madrid | |
Sunday. 25th [May 1873]. News of Thiers’ fall & the change of govt at Paris. I finished reading Kingsleys “at last” a charming book. I wrote some letters to send by the messenger who left in the eveng for Lisbon. We went out driving at 6 & went to see Mme Ettling whom we found in. We also called on the Koudriaffsky’s whom we saw. We dined at 8. Pirel, Monteverde, Maffei & Palmaroli & Napier. | |
