28 May 1873 — Madrid | |
Wednesday. 28th May [1873]. Tapestry mending nearly all morng. I also began the new work I am going to do for a screen—in wool on rough canvass. Mrs Whyte came to see me & return the money we had lent her– At 6 we rode. Dined at 7½. Napier & Bernadine Aylton dined with us & we took them afterwards to the Italian play. There we met the Riaños, Saavedras & Maffei. We saw a French piece translation called Fernanda wh was not a very pleasant one but Pezzana acted very well– We got home late & I had a headache & was tired. | |
