14 June 1873 — Madrid | |
Saturday. 14th [June 1873]. Woke with a headache & did not get up till lunch but as Henry was very anxious to get some despatches ready to go by the French Messenger I got him to give me some wh I copied in bed & copied more when I was up– Maffei called to see Henry in the day—also later Bernar– Henry went out riding—but I stayed in & worked. Riaños & Mr & Mrs Whyte, Mr Macdonell & Napier dined with us. After dinner Jabat, Canitz & Maffei & Mr Cohen came & Henry had his whist & we our tea & talk. | |
