13 June 1873 — Madrid | |
Friday. 13th [June 1873]. I did not go out having rather a headache– Koudriaffsky called looking ill & says his son has typhus fever. Henry went to the Cortès for the election of the President—Salmeron was elected. Bouillé paid me a long visit. It was warmer today & we went out in the eveng in the open carriage—we picked up Mme de Canitz & Maffei came & went to Italian play. Saw “la donna romantica” wh is very amusing & we laughed immensely. Pezzana was first rate—the piece is in verse & by Castelvecchio– | |
