19 June 1873 — Madrid | |
Thursday. 19th [June 1873]. Had a very bad night & woke with a headache so I laid in bed till lunch time & only got up to lay on the sofa where Clarita visited me & later old Mrs Sickles, Mrs & Miss Sickles also Bernadine Aylton. Just as I was dressed for dinner Mme Comyn & Css Valencia Don Juan called. At ¼ to 10 we went to the Canitz & took the Aylton girls. It was very hot today & we stayed out on the balcony at Mme Canitz. There was a serenade going on a few doors up & we were amused at seeing the girls in a shop opposite dancing– | |
