28 August 1873 — Achnashellach
Thursday. 28th [August 1873]. I was just going to start with Cornelia in a new poney carriage she wanted to try when Clemny & Ld George arrived—so I took Francie a little walk before luncheon. Afterwards we all went down to Coolags pool to fish. I got up to my knee in a bog & got my feet wet at starting– I got on much better today being at last able to “cast” properly under Donald the gillies’ direction—but I only caught one trout wh was a consolation– While casting away vigorously 3 stones wh Duncan had place for me in the water gave way & I came bang down on my back with my feet in the water & got them wet a 2nd time. We only just got home for dinner–
