7 October 1873 — Aboard Lively, Santander | |
Tuesday. 7th October [1873]. We breakfasted on board & the Capt. accompanied us on shore & we started at 7.30 for Madrid. We breakfasted at Reinosa abt 12. & dined at Venta de Barros abt 6. There was a tremendous confusion at V. de B. as all had to change carriages except us & there was an immense train—the Vizcondes de Manzanaria were in the train & there was a great crowd going to Madrid. We slept pretty comfortably & arrived at Madrid on | |
