9 October 1873 — Madrid | |
Thursday. 9th [October 1873]. I went out driving with Henry & I called to see Clarita whose baby is abt a month old but its eyes are very bad & she cannot go out. We took a walk in the Fuente. After 5 the Ayltons called also Pirel, Palmaroli & Count de la Rochefoucauld & Miss Cavendish. I kept the Aylton girls to dine with me as Henry went to dine with Canitz. After dinner I had a visit from the Serrano’s man of business who came to tell me that an English nurse the Dss had had got tipsy & to ask my advice. I advised to send her away & promised to go the Dss tomorrow. | |
