10 October 1873 — Madrid | |
Friday. 10th [October 1873]. Busy morning tidying & arranging. After lunch I went to see the Duchess. Found her very blooming & looking very handsome in deep mourning for her mother in law. We had a great talking & enquiry into the affair of the English woman & it turned out she had drunk val de peñas like beer & naturally got tipsy but she promised a better conduct. I went home by 5. After dinner Bernadine Aylton came in to tell us of some horse to be sold by the Duc de Trias. | |
