19 October 1873 — Madrid | |
Sunday. 19th [October 1873]. The Derings arrived late last night & Mr Dering called this morning—we asked him & his wife to dine tonight. After lunch Henry & I went out walking & went to enquire after Mme Bernar who had not been well. Found her better but pale. The Derings, Nicholas, Maffei, Gutierrez (the Minister for Guatemala here & in England), Canitz, Haggart & Hunt dined with us. | |
