25 October 1873 — Madrid | |
Saturday. 25th October [1873]. I spent the morning making cigarettes for Henry. Great affair with the Beale family who gave warning. I had to spend a long time in giving them a lecture & bringing them to their senses wh I succeeded in doing. Went out driving & just after leaving a card at the Albas some boys threw a stone at the carriage & hit the lamp smashing the glass. Pedro jumped down & chased the boys collaring 2 we handed them over to the police. I read aloud to Henry & finished Trollopes Australia. | |
