14 December 1873 — Madrid | |
Sunday. 14th [December 1873]. Woke with a headache so did not get up. Read some of Mr Hewin’s “Thoughts for the Times” which I liked very much. Got on the sofa for lunch. Mrs Whyte came to see me on her money business– I got up at 3 & went into the Boudoir. The Riaños came at 5 & had a long chat. The Sickles & 3 naval officers, Mr Read &c dined with us. Addee & Mr Hammet R.N. came in after dinner & all stayed pretty late– | |
