1 February 1874 — Madrid | |
Sunday. 1st February [1874]. The messenger (Major Hall) arrived in the morning. I went to church with Hill. Got letter by messenger from the M. saying she had decided to divide the £45,000 between us 5 girls. Had more letters by post. It was a beautiful day but I did not go out as Henry went to the Quartett concert & I sat at an open window writing & reading & got the sick parrot to stand on some sticks I put up. Argaiz called having just arrived from England. Moret, Mr Lasky, Gayangos, Major Hall &c dined with us. The latter offered me £100 for my 5 chelsea groups. | |
