31 January 1874 — Madrid | |
Saturday. 31st [January 1874]. Esquivel came & we arranged a group of things for me to set to work upon but I had not time to begin it. At 3 I went out & fetched Emilia, we went to see Mme Saavedra whom we found at home & stayed chatting to her some time. We then went to the Calle de Postai to get some chintz & then I left her at her sister in law’s & then came home. Mme Bauer called at 6. After dinner I read some an article in the Quarterly on Winckelmann. | |
