30 January 1874 — Madrid | |
Friday. 30th [January 1874]. Painted in morng. Mr Whyte came to get Henry to sign a paper. Miss Bentley came to get me to give her a recommendation for Dss Medinaceli. Jacoba came & I told her about her child having stolen the money here & went out to the Fuente to meet Henry not finding I left a few cards & then returned & we took a turn & then came home. The Bernars called abt 6 oclock. At 8½ we went to Beck’s concert taking the 2 Aylton girls with us. Met there Mr OConnor & also Bernars but we had to leave in the middle of the concert to go to Mme Canitz as she now receives on Fridays– Henry had a touch of fever & felt rather unwell so I asked the Ayltons to get Mme Casa Torres to bring them home & we came home by ¼ past 11. | |
