Thursday. 29th [January 1874]. Practised piano & at 12 painted. Esquivel gave me a lesson. Miss Bentley came to say she was out of place again. At 3 I went to Gardeners & had one of my front teeth stopped a most painful operation which lasted a whole hour. I went to fetch Henry in Fuente & came home early, found Missie waiting for me. We had tea & then she taught me to play Besique & went away at 6½ & then Henry & I played backgammon till dinner. In the eveng Emilia, Aurelie, Pedrorena, Carnide, Inzenga, Quesada, Beck, Mirecki & Espino & Maffei & Saurin & Haggard came & we had some charming music. | |
