14 March 1874 — Madrid | |
Saturday. 14th [March 1874]. Capt Vivian the messenger arrived this morng & we also had a post from England. I went out in the afternoon to see Mme Bauer & then to see the Dss de la Torre. She had no news of the Genl doing anything in the N. she said he was waiting for cannons. Met Henry in the Fuente & brought him home. Maffei called also Aurelie– Abt 7 Mr Adee came to offer us the opera box wh we accepted & told him to come & dine with us wh he did & we 3 went to hear Robert de Diablo. In the middle of the performance Stagno was taken ill & they had to leave out a great deal– We left at 11 having had eno of it. | |
