23 March 1874 — Madrid | |
Monday. 23rd [March 1874]. Haggard returned from his leave– Painted in the morning, at abt 11½ Mrs M.D. came to fetch me & took me to see over her house which is close by us in the Calle Campomanes. It was very hot & we did not go out till 4 when Hy & I went to the Retiro & took a walk & then a turn in the Fuente. Usual whist in the evening & people came Mme Casa Torres, Vernouillets &c. | |
