12 April 1874 — Tangier | |
Sunday. 12th [April 1874]. When we woke there was a hurricane blowing but it got fair as the day went on and at 10½ we started from Tangiers—it was not very easy to get on board as the sea was very rough. I was sick for about ¼ hour just in the roughest part. We arrived at Gib just about 2 & had luncheon & in the afternoon rested. At 6 I went to church with De Wintons & Govr. Curious sermon abt Sir Garnet Wolseley. Mr Kendall & Major Jones dined. There was a report that there was a pronunciamento & D. Alfonso had been proclaimed. | |
