11 June 1874 — Madrid | |
Thursday. 11th [June 1874]. Esq: gave me lesson. Missie & Carrie Hamilton came to tea and at 6 we took them out driving. We went & walked in the Retiro but a storm threatened & we could not go far—& before we returned home the storm had begun & was very heavy. The rain was tremendous & a tree in the Retiro was struck. The children dined with us & afterwards we played cards till 9½ when they went– I played the harmonium. | |
