27 July 1874 — Venice | |
Monday. 27th [July 1874]. Went to the Lido as usual. Mme Miniscalchi returned our visit & leaves Venice today. In the afternoon we went to Salviati’s & then to see Riatti & Richetti’s antiquity shops—saw very good modern furniture but not much old. Came back to have tea & my painting lesson. Mme Marcello came to call & brought some lovely patterns of stuff to show us of old brocade manufactury revived. When it was too dark to paint I talked Italian with Cortellazzo till dinner. We went to Piazza for our ices after dinner. | |
