10 October 1874 — Madrid | |
Saturday. 10th [October 1874]. The weather was still pleasant & hot & at 9.35 we set off & drove to Caravanchel where we breakfasted in the garden with the Saavedras, Riaños—& Mme Cameron & Mr Heredia. We took some of our cook’s famous chicken salad with us– We walked abt the grounds & came home abt 1.30. Henry’s messenger had arrived so we did not go out again. Silvela called & later Maffei so we asked him to stay & dine. | |
