27 December 1874 — Madrid | |
Sunday. 27th [December 1874]. On getting up found snow– It continued snowing all the morning but the snow melted as it fell. I wrote & copied for Henry & did not go out. Henry went out walking. Mr Phipps came to see me– Mme Koudriaffsky called just before dinner. Phipps, Hunt, Maffei & Mr Rutledge dined with us. We were to have gone to Montijo’s but I had a rash on my face & cd not go out. | |
