4 February 1875 — Madrid | |
Thursday. 4th February [1875]. I got up with a headache & altho’ I struggled against it I had to retire to my room & darken it. In the afternoon Mirecki & the others practised in the drawing room so I heard it all from my sofa. Towards evening I began to have a toothache. Mirecki & Mr Hunt dined with Henry. I had dinner in my room & dressed afterwards & made my appearance for the eveng but I had such a toothache that I cd not enjoy the music till I suddenly bethought me of stuffing my mouth full of camp: chloroform wh cured it instanta. | |
