14 March 1875 — Madrid | |
Sunday. 14th [March 1875]. Went to the concert & took the Beadons & Miss B. A very good programme—Overture to Oberon—Septett—Andante of Mendelssohn’s Midsummer night’s dream. Afterwards I took Lady B & Miss B to drive in the Retiro. I had just left them at the Fonda & was going home when I met the Dss de la T who stopped me & wanted to speak to me– So she got into my carriage & I drove her home. She said the Duke had advised her for Henry’s sake not to come to us tomorrow night lest the Alfonsist should say she came to us so often. I told her to come all the same. I got home very late & rather cold. The Ulloas, Monteverde Beddons Miss B. dined with us. Miss B sang in the evening. | |
