17 March 1875 — Madrid
Wednesday. 17th March [1875]. I went to breakfast with Dss de la Torre. Rances came to take leave of us before going to his post in London. Mr Kennedy a new attache arrived from England & I got letters. The Bauers called to offer us their Opera box wh we declined. We dined early & went to fetch Emilia at ¼ to 8 & took her to the Hamiltons to see the children act plays—they acted “Irenia y Segue” & the “Box Cox married & settled” very creditably. Cushing was there & a few Spaniards.
