9 April 1875 — Madrid | |
Friday. 9th [April 1875]. I painted but the light was changing. Mme de Canelaux called. Had tea early & went to fetch Emilia for a drive. We went to see Mr Goslings room to see an old Dresden group wh Emilia pronounces Dresdere. We then went on to shop & try & get the materials for a little cape but were disheartened at the difficulty to get any there. After depositing Emilia I picked up Henry & brought him home. I had a cold & headache & went to bed at 10 when Henry went to the Bauers. The King was thrown from his horse & nearly killed this afternoon. | |
