8 April 1875 — Madrid | |
Thursday. 8th [April 1875]. I painted & had a lesson of Esq: Mr Phipps came abt some manttillas afterwards came Mr Gosling, Mrs Phipps, Grau, Miss Bentley, the Mariana so that I was kept going all day. At abt 4 arrived a letter from Mr Saint Martin with a green parrot as a present. He says Loro & Lorito & is not pretty & very shabby. At 5 Emilia & Mr Gayangos called also Sidorovitch. Had a long talk with Emilia abt things & people. She has asked Mr Murphy the King’s private secy to call on us & told him how unkind people are to us. In the eveng we went to tea at the d’Antas & came home early. | |
